Direct from Brazil and onto the HOTA Outdoor Stage, two of the most heralded trailblazing musicians Jorge Ben Jor and Liniker bring their big bands and transformative music to the Gold Coast for the first time ever. Samba, jazz, bossa nova, Tropicália and soul. Get ready to dance!
Jorge Ben Jor
Jorge Ben Jor is a living legend, the father of samba rock and one of the most influential Brazilian artists of all time.
Since 1963 when he burst into the music scene with “Mas Que Nada,” he has continued to contribute hits to the common world songbook. His music goes beyond the boundaries of samba, bossa nova, Tropicália, musica popular Bazil (MPB) to create something far more.
His songs celebrate everyday life in Brazil from the favelas to the football fields, but also delve into esoteric musings about alchemy and spirit. His music has been covered by artists worldwide including Ella Fitzgerald and Sergio Mendes (feat. Black Eyed Peas), plagiarised by Rod Stewart and quoted by Barrack Obama.

As one of Brazils fastest rising stars, the sounds of black soul and samba run through Liniker’s blood. Right now in Brazil, it’s impossible to escape her sound – vintage Brazilian, American soul, samba rock.
Fresh off the back of the bands Album world tour Linkier e os Caramelows will cast a musical spell, which will have you moving to their high-gear Brazilian funk then swaying to lush ballads and reggae bridges and eventually exploding into a majestic African-based Candomblé rhythmic finish.
Formed in 2015 and led by charismatic trans vocalist Linkier who hails from the São Paulo city of Araraquara, the band’s latest album Goela Baixohas been nominated for a Latin Grammy.
